A. Student must be currently enrolled at South Florida State College (SFSC) in at least one college credit course (adult education program students and continuing/community education program students are not eligible); a valid student ID card and a second form of photo identification are required at time of laptop checkout at the reservation desk.
B. All SFSC policies, procedures, and applicable federal/state laws must be followed. The student understands that any violation could result in the loss of laptop use and/or a student conduct proceeding.
C. Use the laptop for educational, non-commercial purposes only. The student is responsible for all use of the laptop while in their possession. Misuse or inappropriate use, as determined by SFSC personnel, may result in loss of the laptop and/or student conduct proceedings.
D. Do not attempt to make any repairs or take any steps to tamper with the laptop’s internal components. Do not remove or alter any SFSC laptop label or serial ID.
E. Do not install or utilize any software in connection with the student’s use of the laptop other than software that supports the courses in which the student is enrolled.
F. Verify all components are with the laptop at the time of checkout.
G. Store all files on a personal storage device or cloud before returning the laptop.
H. Verify all components are with the laptop at the time of return. The laptop must be returned in the same physical condition/working order as when loaned to avoid charges.
I. If the laptop is lost, stolen, or damaged, the student must immediately contact SFSC’s Library at 863-784-7303.
J. In the event laptop equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged while in the student's possession, the student will be responsible for replacement costs or repair which may cost up to $548. The determination as to whether the laptop must be replaced or repaired is at SFSC’s sole discretion. Replacement or repair costs will be sent to the Cashier’s Office for collection and may prevent the student from registering for classes, obtaining diploma/transcripts, and/or graduating until paid in full.
